
Tieluiska improves internal communication with the Piiri app
How to effectively reach 150 employees, most of whom work on the move at different construction sites? Infrastructure contractor Tieluiska Oy turned to the easy-to-use Piiri application for help.
– Internal communications emerged as the only challenge in the staff survey, while we received really good ratings in all other areas. Employees felt that they were not getting enough information nor quickly enough. As a solution to this, we decided to implement Piiri and received immediate good feedback from the staff, says Johanna Pöysti, Communications and Marketing Manager at Tieluiska.
Tieluiska, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year, is a privately owned infrastructure construction company with 150 employees. With a turnover of approximately 40 million euros, the company offers infrastructure construction services, environmental construction, growing platforms, and machinery and spare parts sales in Southern Finland.
Previously, Tieluiska did not have an official internal communication channel for all personnel. Communication was mainly handled through WhatsApp groups and emails, which did not reach all employees directly.
According to Johanna, the introduction of the Piiri application has lowered the threshold for reporting about even minor matters.
– A lot of news are sent through Piiri, as it's now easy to tell everyone about, for example, the change of occupational health nurse. Right from the start, a lot of statutory files were also added to Piiri, which must be visible to employees. Previously, we did not have a proper place to share these files with everyone, and people moving around all of Southern Finland cannot be reached with papers found on the office wall.

Tieluiska's staff quickly adopted the new communication channel.
– I was surprised by how well the new application was received and how quickly the staff downloaded it. Piiri has also given me new enthusiasm to increase communication, because it is easy and fun to use. The employees have also noticed that we now communicate more, Johanna says.
The application also provides information about, for example, personnel events and is used to collect registrations to them.
– It's been nice to hear how our gang talks about Piiri. I recently over heard a conversation in the hallway when someone asked a coworker 'have you already registered for Cooper's test in Piiri?'. Piiri met the expectations very well, it has a surprisingly wide range of features and everything has worked as expected.
Other staff members have also started thinking about new ways to utilize Piiri in their own work, and for example, occupational health and safety managers have wanted to set up their own discussion channel in the application.

– The best thing about the Piiri application is its simplicity. It is easy for people to learn to use it because it doesn't feel complicated, says Johanna Pöysti, Head of Communications and Marketing at Tieluiska.

The Piiri application can be demoed with the company's own look and content, free of charge, for two months. No strings attached.
Tieluiska first tested the Piiri application with a test group of about 20 people and then decided to implement the application permanently. Piiri received only positive feedback during the testing.
– The best thing about the application is its simplicity, both in terms of functionality and visuals. Piiri has all the necessary features and it is easy for people to learn how to use it because it doesn't feel complicated, Johanna says.
Johanna believes that the testing period and guidance gave her a good feel for the application and the opportunity to finalize the content before implementing Piiri with the entire staff.
