Information now flows better in the bakery's everyday life with the Piiri application

Before the Piiri application was introduced, the bulletin board and information board were the most important internal communication channels at Leivon Leipomo. Information came late and employees wanted shift lists in electronic form. Legislation, in turn, required the introduction of a whistleblowing reporting channel. The Piiri application solved all these problems at once.

— We now add the shift lists in PDF format to Piiri, where they can be conveniently downloaded. That has certainly been one of the big reasons why Piiri has been so well received amongst the employees, says Jarkko Ruoho, Production Manager at Leivon Leipomo, whose also takes care of personnel matters.

Leivon Leipomo has 90 employees working in different shifts, six days a week. Shift work and the lack of an electronic system were a challenge for internal communication.

— The challenge with internal communication has been that we are so scattered and the whole team can never be brought together. It's difficult to build a sense of community when work is done in shifts.

The bakery, located in Tampere, bakes fresh bread directly for customers. Founded in 1913, the bakery took a leap in developing internal communications when they received a tip about the Piiri app from Konditoria pH7, a company within the same group of companies.

— They praised the Piiri application and we found it to be suitable for our needs as well, Ruoho says.

"We use Piiri to communicate about all current news and information. This helps us reach the entire staff."

HOCKEY TICKETS AND CURRENT INROMATION THROUGH PIIRI

The staff has been commendably receptive to using Piiri and the feedback has been positive. We also held a competition in the beginning to motivate people to download the application.

— We organized a competition where people voted on which coworker deserved to go for a restaurant dinner. We received a lot of responses. Another thing that has been liked is that the fastest person gets to reserve a corporate card for use at the Tappara and Ilves matches through Piiri, says Jarkko Ruoho.

The information board is still in use in addition to Piiri, as they do not want to share all company-related information in the mobile application.

— We use Piiri to keep everyone informed about current news and information, for example if a guest is coming to the bakery. This helps us reach the entire staff well, Ruoho says with gratitude.

THE APPLICATION'S CUSTOMIZABILITY IS PRAISED

According to Jarkko Ruoho, the implementation of Piiri went easily and without complications.

— I edited one Excel spreadsheet of the personnel register and forwarded it. After that, we invited the personnel to become Piiri users and created a few sample bulletins, Ruoho says, praising the ease of implementing the application.

During the implementation phase, Ruoho came up with a few additional features that the bakery wanted for Piiri. The application is highly customizable, some of the desired changes have already been made and some are in the works.

— It was important for us to have a whistleblowing reporting channel in place, because according to the legislation we had to have it in place by the end of last year. It's really good that we got the reporting channel through Piiri, and we didn't have to acquire a separate system for it, Ruoho praises.
